Why Immortal Failed On Thaddius - Sharfalma - 02-03-2009 As I'm sure everyone is aware, I died on Thaddius due to standing still during Polarity Shift. I just want to say that I take full responsibility, regardless of circumstances, for my death and full blame can rest on my shoulders. I am not upset at Abe for his reaction or at anyone else for their harsh criticisms of what happened. I have been with the guild for quite a while, and from my first night of M'uru attempts until now, there have only been three times I have "screwed up" in a raid. The first being a mis-timed Mass Dispel on the skulls for M'uru. The second time being a laughable mistake leaving /walk toggled and getting conflagged on Twins. 90%+ raid attendance, in the ranks for guild first M'uru, KJ, and one of the first 80s in the guild. I have never spammed Vent or harassed or ridiculed any of our fellow members. I transferred to Scilla despite having almost 5 years of history with Nath, leaving behind friends and memories alikeI keep my head down and typically I don't screw up. Do I top meters? No. But I sure as Hell try. The point I'm making is, despite all of the contributions I've made, I still do not hold myself in amnesty for an unfortunate accident that happened on my watch. Did I maliciously sabotage the raid? Did personal player skill gimp my ability to live? No. But the point is that I'm the one who died, and to no one's fault but my own. If people wish to continually give me crap about dying, or how I died, that's fine. I'm not really bothered by it. I doubt anyone who hasn't had the displeasure of dying on an Immortal run can really understand the feeling in the pit of your stomach of total failure; realizing that you have wasted the time and efforts of 24 other people for yet another week. It's absolutely devastating, and if people don't think I am genuinely more upset than they are about what happened, they need to get a grip. So, I want to again apologize for causing us to fail Immortal this week. I know everyone, especially Abe, has put an absolute insane amount of effort and stress into pulling this off. We have done every single fight with no deaths countless times, but we continually get knocked down by the most unfair, luck-based, random elements that no one can really account for. If anyone doesn't know what happened, I guess I'll briefly explain it. Once every few months, my internet will be disrupted by my garage door opening/closing. I have a hard-line internet connection and I typically do not DC or have computer-based issues. Someone came home later than normal from work tonight and it just so happened that for the first time in months the garage interfered with my net. And wouldn't you know, the lock up perfectly coincided with Polarity Shift. I disconnected and Vent lagged out a bit, I kept hearing "FUCKIN SHARF" repeated over and over by Abe. It was the most upsetting moment in my raiding career. And trust me when I say that I've been in some stressful raiding environments. To conclude, I'm sorry for what happened. If you feel the need to harass me or give me crap in order to feel better about what happened, go for it. Abe, I'm not upset in the slightest for your reaction. I really feel like I let you down in particular. Not only do I understand the decision to keep me out of Immortal runs, I would actually probably prefer it. To me raiding is about the challenge of team work and coordination. There is a difference between good stress and bad. There is a difference between pushing my focus to its max to down M'uru and hoping someone doesn't open my garage again. This achievement has little to do with the skill of the raid, and to me the pressure it puts on us to perform beyond our realm of control simply isn't worth it. Thanks for reading, no hard feelings, Shar.........f Re: Why Immortal Failed On Thaddius - Zoia - 02-03-2009 k im not reading this wall of text Re: Why Immortal Failed On Thaddius - Sharfalma - 02-03-2009 Zoia Wrote:k im not reading this wall of text It takes 90 fucking seconds Zoia. I really appreciate your humility. Re: Why Immortal Failed On Thaddius - Lorake - 02-04-2009 Don't hit yourself over it constantly though, we don't need your play going south because of one mistake. Just start fresh next week, and it's np. Re: Why Immortal Failed On Thaddius - Masex - 02-04-2009 NTO SUQY PPLZ recruiting bad priests. Re: Why Immortal Failed On Thaddius - jackslammer - 02-04-2009 I'm glad we've finally come to the conclusion that we will get immortal when we get it. When we eventually achieve the immortal we will be filled with satisfaction rather than relief from the fear of losing our DKP, our gold, our guild tag, our dignity, etc. and I'm happy Alyse and Sharf are still in guild even after their avoidable, single handed, inexcusable, immortal fuck ups.
Re: Why Immortal Failed On Thaddius - geng - 02-04-2009 i still think we should continue the "why immortal failed on ______" posts just to try keep our skills at the best it can be. Identify our problems and fix them for the next time, and try to be competitive for ulduar and not 7th or 8th as we are now. |
